Do you find yourself saying something like this? “We are doing really well, but we need to reach more people. They always tell us we are the Best-kept secret.”

Secrets can be great, but when it comes to our communities, it is crucial to be able to reach the people that need it most. The idea of being the ‘best-kept secret” can be frustrating and limiting. So how can we stop?

The Power of Social Media

In 2019, there were 2 billion social media users worldwide. 90.4 % of Millennials, 77.5% of Gen Xers, and 48.2% of Baby Boomers are active social media users.

People spend an average of 2.5 hours on social every day. Being active here is crucial! It is integral to how we communicate. So go where the people are!

How to use social media

  • post unique content
  • answer questions from your community
  • be consistent (make a weekly commitment to it)
  • be active – don’t just post your own stuff – like, comment and share other people’s stuff
  • PODCAST!

Your Podcast is Your Voice

As of 2019, there are over 800,000 podcasts and over 30 million episodes. People are starting them, and even more people are listening to them. Share the work you are doing, and share it where people are looking and listening!

Don’t be the “best-kept secret” by failing to communicate who you are and what you do, in the most convenient way for people to access it.

Tell STORIES. People respond to stories. It is the best way for us to learn because we put ourselves in them, we relate. Share success stories so more people can benefit from what you offer.

Word of Mouth is key. Get talking! Tell your stories, and ask your community to share them. There is someone out there who also needs your services, so if they don’t know about you, you are doing them a disservice! Stop being the best-kept secret!
